Who Is Bunker Hill?

Bunker Hill Specialty Insurance Programs, a specialty underwriting facility, began operations in 1985 in Texas with a limited program for a single class of business, nursing homes. Today, the insurance industry recognizes Bunker Hill as one of the preeminent national program underwriting specialists in the country. Bunker Hill is managed by Shel-Ray Underwriters, Inc., a Houston based insurance management company with some 45 employees. The executives of Shel-Ray have extensive experience as primary insurers, reinsurers, and specialty underwriters since the early 1970's. Besides Bunker Hill, Shel-Ray manages Great Midwest Insurance Company, a primary insurance company, rated "A" (Excellent) by A.M. Best Company for over fifteen consecutive years.
